In most industrialized countries, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus type 2 is steadily rising. In addition to genetic predisposition, an important role in the justification of this type have diabetes and external factors. First, obesity and lack of physical activity are important factors in the appearance of this disease.

Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder, which is either due to inadequate levels of insulin (type 1 diabetes) or insulin resistance (type 2 diabetes). Not only characterized by disorders in the metabolism of carbohydrates, but also unbalanced metabolism of proteins and lipids. Problems lipid metabolism result in the onset of dyslipidemia, often observed especially in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2. Diabetes is associated with a significantly increased risk of atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease and other clinical complications such as microangiopathy, kidney disorders, neuropathy and hypertension.

London hosts from yesterday until September 9 the Speciality & Fine Food Fair, the leading trade fair for the gourmet food industry in the UK. This event, held since 1999, will be attended in its 15th edition by artisan and delicatessen food producers and key buyers from retail stores, large chains and the hospitality sector.

According to its organizers, the show will feature “new and exciting” products developed by more than 700 exhibiting companies and it will bring together more than 11,700 representatives of retailers, caterers, chefs, hoteliers and restaurants and food establishments owners.
